The FISA Masters Commission Meets with The St. Catharines Local Organizing Committee

On November 13 - 15, the FISA Masters Commission (FMC) members met with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC).

FISA was represented by Commission Chair Peter Morrison (Great Britain), Ronald Chen (US), Zdenka Norkova (Czechoslavakia), Daniel Rutenberg (Israel), President of the Jury Mike Bagshaw and his assistant Ken Campbell (Canada).

The LOC was represented by Co-chairs George Darte and Phil Jones, Dave Derry (Rowing Canada Aviron's representative), Susan Erskine, Doug Geddie, John Lehnen, Bruce MacDonald, Tim Rigby and Bill Schenck.

The meeting was held to review and agree upon all operational aspects for the upcoming 2010 FISA World Rowing Masters Regatta to be held on the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta Course in St. Catharines September 2 - 5, 2010.




The hosts for the event are Rowing Canada Aviron and partner St. Catharines World Rowing. The FMC members were provided with a complete facility tour on Friday afternoon including on-water facilities, the Finish Tower, Grandstand, and Henley Island facilities. The FMC and LOC members then met all day Saturday to review operational procedures, proposed fees, and umpire training and testing that will go on concurrent to the Regatta. FMC members toured area attractions Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

The 2010 FISA World Rowing Masters Regatta is expected to draw approximately 3,000 athletes aged from 28 to 90+ with an average athlete age in the 40's.

The regatta was held in Vienna, Austria in 2009 and will be hosted in Poznan, Poland in 2011.
