Cyclists and hikers can enjoy hundreds of miles of trails and parkways. The Welland Canal runs through Niagara, carrying ships around Niagara Falls as they traverse from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. Paths line the canal offering cycling, skating or walking as the giant ships move along. Fascinating history and culture abound in Niagara. The town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is a landmark in itself as it was the original capital of Upper Canada. Niagara has 20 historical museums and to two resconstructed forts for visitors to explore.
